According to research conducted by the Diversity Institute in Toronto, leadership diversity contributes meaningfully to over-all Board effectiveness by enriching decision-making, increasing responsiveness to diverse communities and demonstrating inclusion in civic participation. This interactive workshop will explore how culture influences decision-making and communication and how intercultural strategies can enhance Board’s performance. The discussion will focus on addressing barriers to active engagement of diverse communities in leadership opportunities in the non-for-profit sectors and how the Board could develop policies and process on attracting, recruiting and retaining members from diverse communities.
