Currently Executive Director (part time) North Saskatchewan River Valley Conservation Society. Formerly an Educational Coordinator (part-time) with the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services at the University of Alberta. Previously served as elected member of Edmonton City Council from 1992-2007 representing the former Ward 4 (Central McDougall, Oliver, Queen Mary Park, Boyle Street, Downtown, McCauley, etc.).
In the Edmonton community Michael has been active for over 25 years with Edmonton’s Gay/Lesbian (Queer) community, founder of AIDS Edmonton, board member of NeWest Press, Pro Coro Music Society and previously Edmonton Homeward Trust, the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and Edmonton Pride Society. He has also taught at both MacEwan University and the University of Alberta.
