Governance for Growth (Risk Management)

The role of the board in relation to risk management is often viewed as conservative; eliminating risk as much as possible. At the same time we’d often like to be an innovative, responsive or entrepreneurial organisation to achieve our mission – in short, riskier.

This workshop starts from the premise that governance is about compliance AND performance; contending that good governance and leadership around risk requires responsible trade-offs. So, what does this mean for the way trustees and chief executive work as a responsible governance team? What are the implications for board composition, structures, requisite trustee skills and recruitment strategy?
